Optimise your listings to improve their ranking. Make your listings more visible on eBay by improving their relevance. Add extra information, multiple images and work on keywords in your titles to increase their search positioning.
– Add Item Specifics –
eBay has been working hard to bring in compulsory item specifics, such as brand and manufacturer’s part numbers or barcode. It’s all aimed at making the listing more relevant in terms of search, especially outside of eBay (Google etc). This is being extended with the use of recommended item specifics and those sellers who add more and more of these to their listings, will be rewarded with better search visibility, basically higher up the page on eBay. Doing this kind of work helps as it gives these results without having to pay eBay to improve the position of your listing for added sales percentage fees via promoted listings (minimum 2%). – Multiple Product Images –
eBay has over time begun to encourage sellers to list products with more images (and no longer charge for this). Today, eBay rewards sellers who add up to a maximum of 12 images on each listing. The more you add per listing, the more relevant the listing becomes and increased visibility it receives. The one issue we faced initially was using eBay’s own methods for this, the results were patchy and most failed to upload or show any images at all. This meant import after import trying to get them onto the system, not practical at all. We now use our own externally supported mechanism to add multiple imagery to eBay listings successfully. – VERO Compliance (Automotive) –
VERO “The Verified Rights Owner (VeRO) Programme lets intellectual property rights owners request the removal of listings on eBay that offer items or contain materials that infringe on their rights.” We’ve seen in recent times an increased focus by car manufacturers on eBay sellers regarding the use of manufacturers’ copyrighted names and models in listing titles, item specifics and also descriptions. This has resulted in some sellers having their accounts suspended by eBay for non compliance for 14 days. Contact us if you’ve been approached by eBay to become compliant or in advance of the emails to carry this task out and keep your account live on eBay. – Vehicle Fitment (Compatibility) –
We’ve been doing compatibility on eBay pretty much since it became available on the eBay UK site, 8 years ago. eBay is driving sellers to add ‘Fitment’ to their listings. This enables buyers to filter out all listings apart from those that fit their car on the marketplace. In theory it makes a huge amount of sense to do this, but in practice it is a little more complicated than that. Feel free to contact us to discuss fitment further.
